Week in Pictures – Week Fourteen

This week was spent doing a lot of planning and sewing.  Getting ready for the Austin Craft Riot Summer Show and making some big changes kept me very busy.  Here’s a little peek into my week of sewing.

I woke up at 4:30 one morning to finish up a project before work.  This is how much thread I had left when I finished the project.  Eeks!

I bought a bunch of felt for some new plushies I’ve been working on.  Notice the new colors.

I worked on a new plushie pattern.  I’ll be making a prototype this week!

Oh, and Bo went to the groomers and got a bath.  Doesn’t he look cute?  And very patriotic.  :-)

It’s probably going to be a little quieter than usual around here for the next couple weeks.  I have a lot of work to do to prepare for the summer show.  I’ll be back with more giveaways, DIYs and Dreaming in Craft news soon.

Have a great week!

Week in Pictures – Week Thirteen

Another week has come and gone too fast.  This week is the official start of summer!  It seems like we’ve been in summer for a while since it’s so hot here.  Sadly, it’s just going to get hotter.  I guess that’s actually a good thing.  It will keep me inside sewing more.  I have lots of work to do.

I decided to take a little blog break this weekend to focus on Dreaming in Craft.  I have a few new items I’m working on to add to the shop very soon.  I have one new plushie and another one in the planning stages and then I have a super secret project I’m working on that will make it’s debut in just a couple more weeks.  I can’t wait!  I posted some sneak peeks on Instagram this weekend.  Did you see them?

I also got some more work done on my lunch breaks this week. I’m trying to get all of my hair clips done by the end of this week. I’ll let you know how it goes.

The pets were acting silly…as usual. :-)

Bo does NOT like to share his yard with anyone.

I saved the best for last. The highlight of my week was getting a new DIY ready and posted on the blog! did you see it?

How was your week?

Week in Pictures – Week Twelve

Last week was kind of a weird week for me.  I haven’t been feeling great and I’m still having a lot of trouble sleeping.  Add to that a couple of evening meetings and I was kind of fried.  I did get to have a little hang out time with my friends Renée and Maja (on separate occasions) this week so that made me feel  better.  It was nice to just chat and not think about the massive to-do list I had waiting for me for a little while.  :-)

Here’s a quick peek at my week.

I started Craft Academy!  I’m already behind.  Gotta get caught up today.

I did a little lunch break crafting.  I like to work on hair clips during my lunch breaks at work because they’re quick and easy to pack in a bag.

I have a bird house on my front porch and every year I get a mama bird.  I finally got a picture of her this weekend.  She was mad because one of the neighborhood cats was lounging on my porch.  she sat on this plant talking to her babies until the cat left.

Couldn’t sleep…again.

Oh! And Bo got a summer hair cut. He looks so silly! Where are his ears?? 😉

How was your week?

Keep an eye on the blog this week.  I have a new DIY coming up!

Week in Pictures – Week Ten

It’s Monday again.  That means there’s only one more day to enter the May Dreaming in Craft giveaway!  You better hurry!

But, before you go, here is a quick look at my week in pictures.

Yep.  Dreaming in Craft work is as fun as it looks.  :-)

I went to dinner with my friends Josh & Renée at Blue Star Cafeteria.  Delicious!

Then we went to Bananarchy to eat chocolate covered frozen bananas.  It was so good!  Look at all that chocolate!

On Saturday I went to the Austin Craft Riot meeting at El Mercado and had shrimp tacos.  I have been thinking about them ever since.  I can’t wait to go back and order them again!

I got lots of work done this week. I still have tons to do.  Isn’t that how it always is?  😉

Have you ever participated in the Weekend Hashtag Project on Instagram?  This week the theme was #electricalsky.  Since I love taking these kinds of photos I decided to go for it.  I didn’t make it to the Instagram blog but I think I got some pretty great pictures.

It was another good week for me.  How about you?  How was your week?

Week in Pictures – Week Nine

This week was pretty fun.  I got to hang out with friends and help them get ready for Renegade Craft Fair.  In between all that fun work my week looked like this.

I made a teal Frazzle for an Etsy order.

My friend Renee suggested Sleepytime tea to help with my problems falling asleep. It was yummy!  Did you know they have it in vanilla flavor?

I took my dad to his doctor appointment.  While he was there I went to Starbucks to get some blogging and Austin Craft Riot work done.

What happened to Wednesday?

I went to run some errands on Thursday evening.  On my way home I saw this beautiful sunset.

I try to get as much blogging and Dreaming in Craft work as I can done on the weekends.  I usually spend my lunch break at work on Fridays planning out my weekend projects.

On Saturday I helped my friends set up at Renegade.  I went back to shop with my mom that afternoon.  I got some goodies from Robo Roku, This Creative Life, BabyBolt and Lip Glosserie.  In between, I got to have my very favorite meal…Summer Rolls from Firebowl Cafe!

Sunday was busy.  I worked on a new DIY for the blog and put together my next giveaway (stay tuned this week for both).  Then I went to help my friends tear down at Renegade.  I spotted this awesome Airstream at Palmer Events Center.

That’s about it.  This week will be spent catching up on Dreaming in Craft work, adding yoga back into my daily routine and hopefully spending some time with friends.  :-)  What are your plans for this week?

Bo says, “Have a great week!”

I’m pretty sure we’ve all heard of Instagram.  Is anyone else as addicted to it as I am?  Seriously.  I can’t stop taking pictures!  I love it!  My favorite part is the social aspect of it.  I learn more about my blog and twitter friends not only from their words but I get a little peek into their world through pictures.  I love to share pictures from my life, too.  It’s like visual twitter  And, bonus…I can post it to Twitter!  :-)

Last week one of my facebook friends posted a picture on facebook from an app I had never heard of and I was very curious.  I clicked the picture and found that it was called Cinemagr.am.  The set up of the app is very similar to Instagram except that this app lets you animate the pictures.  So fun!  Of course, Instagram will always be my first love, but sometimes it’s fun to have a little motion in your pictures.

I tried out a few examples to give you an idea of what you can do with this app.

the candle flames are on a repetitive loop.

One of the two flowers is blowing in the wind.  I love how this one looks!

Only the waterfall is moving.  The rest of the water is completely still.

Sometimes Bo gets tired of me taking his picture all the time.  If he doesn’t want his picture taken he won’t look at me.  This day my dad was talking to him and I called his name.

As you can probably tell I have been having a lot of fun with this app for the past week.

Some of the things I like about this app

  • It’s an easy way to make an animated picture on the go (or if you’re like me and you don’t know how to do this in Photoshop).
  • I like the social network-y part of it.  As I said before the layout of the  app is very similar to Instagram.
  • You can add fun filters to your picture before you post it (also similar to my favorite Instagram).
  • You can share your Cinemagrams on Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr.  Perfect for getting the picture out to everyone to enjoy.  :-)

Things that could be imrpoved

  • It would be extremely helpful to be able to adjust the brush size when highliting the sections for the app to animate.  If you look closely at some of these you will see where my highlighting overlapped beyond the item I wanted to animate.
  • No iPad app?  Maybe some day.  I tried to use the iPhone version on my iPad to make it a little easier to highlight the animated sections with a larger screen but it crashed when I got to the filters section of the app…every time!

Overall I think this is a great photography app if you are just using it for fun.  If you download it you should browse through some of the other Cinemagrams posted by users.  Some of them are really awesome and some will just make you laugh because they are so silly!

If you decide to try out the app let me know so I can check out your pictures.

Week in Pictures – Week Eight

Hello!  I’m back!  I took this weekend off from the blog to spend time with my mom for Mother’s Day and to help some friends get ready for a craft show.  I’m back and ready to share some pictures from my week.

This week I didn’t take a lot of pictures since I was helping my friends but here’s a little peek into what my week looked like.

Last year we barely got any rain at all.  I’m pretty sure we made up for all of it last week.

Once the rain cleared up I saw some pretty amazing sunrises.

I shipped some Dreaming in Craft orders last week.

I see this quite regularly since I live downtown.

This, too.  They turn off the traffic light downtown at night.

I love bubble wrap!!

How was your week?

Last week I came across an article about a photographer who photographed London in a very unique way.  Instead of taking pictures of the beautiful sites in the city, Gavin Hammond chose to photograph their reflections in puddles.

{Photos by Gavin Hammond}

It has been raining some in Austin over the past week so on Saturday I decided to go outside and try my own puddle photography.   I just took a couple pictures on my street so I don’t have any spectacular buildings in my pictures.  It’s mostly trees and power lines.  Next time we get some rain I might try to photograph some fun stuff in Austin.

What do you think?  It’s interesting to look at things from a whole new perspective.

Week in Pictures – Week Six

Wow!  What a week!  So much happened!  I can’t believe it all fit into one week.

On Monday I had a meeting at Austin Java where I drank Vietnamese coffee and ate too much yummy junk food.  I had a great time getting to know some of my fellow Austin Craft Rioters.

On Tuesday I went to Joss Whedon Trivia at Red’s Porch with my friends Josh & Renee and Velma.  Our team was called It Must Be Bunnies.  We were in 4th place after the first scoring, then 11th and we ended up in 16th out of 45 teams.  It was tons of fun!

Wednesday I went home and fell asleep because I was exhausted from all the fun earlier in the week.  But that was after the staff meeting/lunch at work where all of this productive work happened.  😉

I got to spend some time with my friends Jack and Maja on Friday night.  We watched a movie called Happy Accidents on Netflix and talked about podcasts.  I have a lot to catch up on now.  :-)

I stopped and took a picture of the pretty pink sunset when I was driving to their house.

I had to postpone my Saturday meeting because I wasn’t feeling well, but I did get a lot of work done at home so it wasn’t a lost day.

As for Sunday…well that was my big catch up day.  I did some Dreaming in Craft work and finished up my first tutorial!

Stay tuned later this week to see what I made!

Have I mentioned how cute Buffy and Bo are?  No?  Well, they are!  Even if they are totally weird most of the time.

How was your week?

Week in Pictures – Week Five

Last week was a busy and fun week.  Here’s a peek at what it looked like.

I made some zipper pouches for Dreaming in Craft orders,

spent some time with my pal Renée on Thursday and went to a movie and Amy’s ice cream with another Friend on Friday,

posted a giveaway and a new series on the blog,

took silly pictures of the pets,

spent a little time outside (as much as my allergies would let me…not much),

and finally got my iPad!

That’s pretty much it for my week.  This is going to be a busy/fun week, too.  I have a meeting tonight, a trivia night Tuesday and plans to hang out with a great friend on Friday.  In between I’ll be sewing like crazy!  :-)  It’s a nice change since the last couple of months have been really stressful.

Week in Pictures – Week Four

Last week for me can be summed up in eight words…

Fashion?? (Hehe! Not really ;-))

Insomnia (sad face :()

Coffee (My mom gave me a new coffee pot!)

What words describe your week?

Week in Pictures – Week Three

Hello!  I’m back with another week in pictures.  Did you have a good Easter?  I’m sad to say I spent most of Easter Sunday laying around on the couch with a terrible headache.  I did get to watch The Sound of Music and Mary Poppins so I’m not too sad about missing out on the fun.  It’s been a really crazy couple of weeks around here because of some family stuff we had going on.  Things seem to be slowing down so I’m hoping to get back to a normal schedule this week.

Here’s what I did get to do this week.

I spent some time outside,

took pictures of the sky

spotted some wildlife  😉

 Did some crafting

Made to do lists and read a book

and had a couple movie nights at home.

What was your favorite part of last week?
